The PADI Rescue Diver course is a 4 day class which is an important step in expanding your Advanced Open Water Diver knowledge and experience.

The PADI Rescue Diver course prepares the diver to help prevent, and if necessary, manage dive emergencies, minor and major, with a variety of techniques. Your diver training and dive educational skills and confidence will be enhanced. Most certified Rescue Divers look back on their rescue diver training as one of the most challenging – sometimes demanding – and therefore most rewarding programs. The subject is serious but the training is superb fun.

Boracay Tech Diver’s “Tec Diva” program

In a sport that is quite dominated by men, it was refreshing to be the first girl to engage in the Boracay Tech Diver’s “Tec Diva” program! I am currently a PADI Rescue Diver and have dove most of Boracay’s dive sites several times. After diving my favorite sites Yapak and Camia Shipwreck one too many times, I realized that I needed a new challenge. Dustin then conveniently introduced me to Technical diving and its many advantages. At first I was a bit intimidated, just by looking at the gear and how different it looked from the regular recreational single tank kit. It just seemed really heavy and complicated but then as I cruised along the course, I learned that once you figure out all the components, the set up, the dive plan, and the use of deco bottles at different depths, then it’s actually a piece of cake!
The biggest advantage and one of the main reasons why I decided to do Tech is that you can stay down longer and have a chance to go exploring. It was the perfect opportunity to go further with my diving aspirations. Another advantage and quite frankly the most important is that your dive skills vastly improve as you challenge yourself to do several exercises with double tanks strapped to your back! The skill set involves practicing maintaining your buoyancy, learning different kinds of kicks such as the reverse frog-kick (which is quite funny at first, but you’ll get used to it), dealing with emergency scenarios, checking your deco bottles, and of course running thru safety drills.

If you’re up for the challenge then Tec is for you. If you’re looking for the next step in diving, then Tec is for you. If you’re looking to improving your skills as a diver, then Tec is for you. If you’re looking for something fun and rewarding, then Tec is for you. Yes, IT IS HARD WORK and requires alot of patience but the knowledge you gain is priceless. The experience is altogether rewarding. And for the ladies out there, if you’re up for showing the boys that girls kick ass too, then TEC DIVAS is definitely for you! How was the package deal for rescue EFR and Tecdeep?

The package was great! I had some technical experience from back at home but i needed to have some extra certificates to continue to technical diving. After discussing my budget and time available on my remaining holiday, Dustin at Blue Mango put together the exact package of training that I needed and wanted to learn, get certified and take back home with me.

How were the tech diving sites in Boracay?

I had heard that there was no Tech Diving on boracay so I had planned to leave for Puerto Galera but after my experience with blue mango i found many sites very suitable for tecnical diving with so many different spots yet to be discovered. there is plenty of opportunities for cave and cavern to deep and trimix. I can see that boracay definitely has a future for numerous technical dive locations around the island.

Today Svenya completed her Open water dive 4 at Crocodile Rock! We wanted to see the best soft coral in boracay and we did. The water was 27C degrees much warmer now and the vis about 15 meters! What a great day to be diving in Boracay! I have to say when Svenya did one of the most impressive mask removal and replacements I have ever seen, she had her mask of for about 2 minuets, because it got tangled in her hair! But she kept her cool and remained calm and cleared it no problem! Good work Svenya! A Giant pregnant puffer cruised by, it had to be a foot and a half long. We also saw pipefish and some large grouper! Total dive time 53 minutes , another great dive in paradise. -Dustin

Rescue Class with Simon and Erick

Today, Jay took his divers out to Angol to do the Paniced diver under water and unconcious diver underwater. I brought the video camera along to document the training. After the dive we reviewed the footage and made suggestions as to how the Rescues could have been better. Over all they did great job Simon and Erick!!

Getting Wrecked with Serena

Day 2, of Serena’s WRECK Specialty class on Boracays Camia wreck ! I put down some cave line for our wreck penetration dive just to demonstrate the skills required. Then It was her turn to put into practice the line laying techniques we tried back at the shop. She did great! No snagging the line and not much silting, good job Serena keep practicing! For divers who like wrecks the wreck specialty class Is a great way to develop skills and do 3 awesome wreck dives !-Dustin
