Crocodile Rock diving in June

On a 20 minute boat ride from White Beach to the other side of the island is Crocodile Rock. Don’t worry, no crocs. From a distance, this small uninhabited island looks like the head of a crocodile. Currents can be fierce except at slack tide, which makes for a beautiful collection of corals. It is a gently sloping wall with several canyons and caves containing a wide diversity of fish. Pretty cool sight.

Tons of fish to see on this dive. Slight current, lots of corals, nudibranchs, unicornfish, garden eels, a big grouper, batfish, clownfish, rapidfish, triggerfish, sweetlips and moorish idol and a 2 meter sea snake.

Camia II wreck dive

The Camia ship Wreck is the resident ship wreck of Boracay which was sank in 2001 to attract fish and develop an artificial reef. The ship wreck itself is a cargo boat that is 30 meters long. Now the flora and fauna of the Camia ship Wreck has grown extensively and it is now home to many resident fishes such as red bass, scorpion fishes, and a school of batfish, angel fishes, blue spotted stingrays, nudibranchs and bluefin trevallies. The corals have already covered the whole ship wreck which attracts even more schools of fishes.

The starting depth is around 16 meters and the maximum depth of the dive goes into 30 meters. The Camia ship Wreck dive site has a four star rating and you need to be an experienced diver in order to make the dive to the Camia ship Wreck dive site. The advanced open water level is necessary for this dive and the special courses of deep diver and wreck diver have to be finished as well before making the dive to the Camia ship Wreck dive site.

The Camia ship Wreck dive site is hailed by locals and tourists as the best dive site in Boracay not only because it offers the depth and the adventure, but also because of the beautifully developed artificial reef and the fishes that it attracts. The Camia ship Wreck dive site is a must-see whenever visiting Boracay.

We took this picture from diving today at Balinghai. The visibility was around 20 meters and around 29 degrees. Perfect day for diving. The Habagat season is here and the winds are on the white beach side now. It’s just a matter of time before we are diving on the other side.

We should be able to get some more pictures and videos on the website.. so expect some updates soon!

Shark Week at Yapak!!

Its another great week of Diving at YAPAK 2 ! Our Divemaster Chad took a great pic or this 2 meter Black tip reef shark cruising around at 34 meters. They also spotted 3 white tips and some tuna! This is why Yapak is always a great dive for divers with advanced or higher certification, you can always find big stuff there!

Angol Point

6m-16m Deep
Experience level: Beginner
Expect to be swarmed with thousands of fish at this site! Angol point is a favorite beginner dive site with 2 large coral reef boulders in about 12 meters of water rising up to 7 meters at the top. Because this site is a fish feeding area, damsel fish and angle fish are abundant.

Camia Ship Wreck

18m- 30 m Deep
Experience Level: Advanced

This wreck was sunk in 2001 by the Boracay Diving association. Over the years the wreck has become home to Jacks, Sea Bass, Grouper, Surgeon fish, and Tangs. Just off the wreck you can find pygmy Sea horses and the very rare ghost pipe fish.
Since the wreck was deliberately sunk, it has been cleaned of toxic chemicals and wires that would tangle a diver, it also has large wide swim thru’s extending throughout most of the length of the ship.

Crocodile Island

6m-18m Deep
Experience Level: Beginner to advanced

This site has the Best soft coral cover you will find anywhere in Boracay. Over half a hectare of rainbow colored soft and hard corals, table corals, anemone’s define this spectacular site. Trumpet fish, fusiliers, garden eels and triton trigger fish can also be found here. Below the soft corals is a 10 meter high wall where small caves, sea fans and whip corals can be found.

Fridays Rock

12m-18m Deep
Experience Level : Intermediate to Advanced

Also known as the Big Fish dive, this site is famous for its 25-30 resident red bass. The giant bass can be found circling and feeding around fridays rock which rises up from 15m all the way to 8 meters. This site is also home to large surgeon fish, grouper, and the famous bamboo shark. About 15m south west of the rock is a small coral coral garden where large barrel sponges, octopus and giant lion fish can be found.

Yapak 2

33m-38m
Experience Level: Advanced to Technical

This is the most famous and challenging dive site in Boracay. Yapak is a 2 km long wall dive running north to south that begins at 33m meters and drops down to 60 meters. The top of the wall is home to Sweet lips, Jack trevallys, Red bass, Tuna, White tip reef sharks and the occasional Eagle ray or Green sea turtles. This site can have very strong currents and is recommended you have a good amount of experience before attempting this dive with your dive master or instructor.
If you are tech diver certified Yapak 2 is the dive site for you, the wall rises up from 60 meters and is covered with caves over hangs and large swim though crevices. Giant tiger trevallys can be seen at these technical depths as well as resting back tip reef sharks and if you get to the site early enough, manta rays.

Maningning Trip update

The trip was fantastic! First dive 30meter visibility, giant clams, stone fish and a huge school of surgons! Then lunch on the island with the locals who cooked us up some fresh Mahi-Mahi or dorado fish. Second dive we saw a napoleon wrasse, 2 giant cuttle fish and large jacks!

Dive Safari to Maningning

All the instructors are taking the morning off to go to Maningning (Maniguin) Island. Its the best diving in the Boracay Area. 40 meter visibility, Rays, Sharks, Napoleon Wrasses are common. We will do one dive and lunch on the island and Hike up to the Old light house built in 1909. after the luch and hike its back into the water for a another great dive.

Today Svenya completed her Open water dive 4 at Crocodile Rock! We wanted to see the best soft coral in boracay and we did. The water was 27C degrees much warmer now and the vis about 15 meters! What a great day to be diving in Boracay! I have to say when Svenya did one of the most impressive mask removal and replacements I have ever seen, she had her mask of for about 2 minuets, because it got tangled in her hair! But she kept her cool and remained calm and cleared it no problem! Good work Svenya! A Giant pregnant puffer cruised by, it had to be a foot and a half long. We also saw pipefish and some large grouper! Total dive time 53 minutes , another great dive in paradise. -Dustin

2 Octopi at Balinghai

Mark, Doung and myself went out to Balinghai today on a mission to check out the artificial reefs.
The “reef balls” as they are called were put down March 2005 by the Boracay Scuba association. They are doing very well now with some soft and hard coral growth. Mark spotted a Octopus peeking it head out of one of the reef balls. I Looked inside myself and saw not one but 2 Octopi scrunched up next to each other on the ceiling of the reef ball! Cool!
